Maiden

Time marches on and the wheel of the year turns

Today is the vernal equinox. It's one of the four solar festivals I celebrate on my wheel of the year. Like all the solar festivals, it goes from sunrise to sunrise. So yes, I was up for dawn. And singing to welcome the sun on this day.

Unlike other Pagan traditions and paths, I consider the equinox to be the middle of spring and not the beginning. It seems to work better for my particular area. After all, the weather has been changing for weeks now.

I do agree that today marks the symbolic day that many Triple Goddesses enter their Maidenhood. And a bonnie fine and delectable lass She makes, too.

I suppose that bothers some people, the emphasis on sexuality. Even Pagans in this day of PC and family friendly stuff. But I am not so far removed from farm stock as all that. My particular gods are Lusty Folk, and sex is a part of who They are, just as it is a part of who humans are. Seems rather foolish to deny it.

Happy Equinox.
