The most Pagan thing that happened to me this week was two and a half days of thunderstormsRainy day musings
Living in Arizona, rain is always an
experience.
There are places in the desert where you can watch a storm sixty or a hundred
miles away. Especially at night. LIghtning ripping through the taut darkness.
The thunder groaning against the Earth. The stars on one side of the sky while
clouds fill the opposite horizon. Close up, it's even more
impressive.
In the desert, rain tends to come in two varieties. A moist gentle kiss leaving only memory in a half hour or so, and the drenching cascades. This was the drenching cascades. The kind where walking ten feet makes you so wet your clothes take an hour to dry. Where walking thirty feet leaves you just as wet as if you fell into a river. The best place to watch the cascade storms is under a porch. You don't get wet, but your arm hairs still tingle, the rain tickles your nose, it whispers in your ear, and the storm's energy flows through you. Great place just to put your feet up, loosen up all your muscles, and just experience the Universe. Gods, it may not be sex, but it is still damn good! And after three or four hours of playing hooky and just relishing the storm, my mind just sort of touched on random things. We Pagans need to spend more time in front of the fire passing drinks back and forth. More time on the porch in the rain. More time in the shade of an ancient tree. More time singing in a cave. More time being and less time acting. So have you been experienced lately?
