Micro spell kitFeeding my tool and pattern
obsessions
I can't seem to get the focus to write the other
two articles I had in mind, so I think I will just take a
diversion.
The week before last I made a last minute trip and I left my computer bag in my living room. That was bad enough, but in the side pocket was my main tool pouch. I'm obsessed with tools, part of it is just a guy thing, part of it is totem magick, and part of it is calming rituals. I did have a couple of things on my belt so it wasn't a total withdraw situation. But it got me to remembering a MacGuyver type kit in an Altoids case I read about years ago. I'm definitely piecing my own version together, even if I stick the case in a compass pouch on my belt. But I was thinking about a magick version too. I have experimented with a travel spell kit before with some success. But I am thinking about a pared down version that could also fit in an Altoids case. Some items are pretty obvious, my grandfather''s old skeleton key is probably my best general purpose magickal tool. A small pendulum and a soft leaded pencil piece. Maybe a very small vial of moon-blessed salt and another of a general purpose oil. I was thinking about finding a stone arrowhead for a ritual blade. Some silk thread and maybe some satin cord. A small packet of iron filings, maybe another of herbs. Folded blank parchment. The hard bit is going to be a candle or source of flame. Desert is all around me, so carrying a tea light around isn't a practical solution, even with aluminum foil. I will have to do some thinking about what else could work in this kit.
