The 'Nest Empties

Wren's Nest goes offline

Wren Walker and Fritz Jung have been running the Witchvox.com site since it started. For a long time, it was pretty much "THE" Pagan site on the web. It inspired I don't know how many Pagans to start their own websites. To this day, Witchvox is one of the best networking and general information sites around. Especially if you want to find out how people do things if they aren't a Big Name Pagan. Most of the essays are written by everyday folks who just happen to be Pagan.

In fact, you'll find the technopagan green I use on this site is directly inspired by the color scheme that Witchvox used for years.

A few days ago Wren closed down Wren's Nest, it was a round up of Pagan related stories from around the web, updated as Wren had time. The comments that others posted were nearly as invaluable as the stories themselves. As others have pointed out, Wren was blogging long before there was a name for it.

I can tell you from experience that it's hard to find Pagan news stories on a regular basis, particularly if you don't want the "hey look at me, I'm Pagan and I want attention" type. Wren pulled it off before there were reliable search engines. Keeping a maintaining even a third tier news site is a lot of work, and Wren always did a first rate job. The offline network she and Fritz wove was essential to keeping Pagans in touch with each other.

There will still be news on the Witches Voice Facebook page, but it's just not the same.

Here's to you Wren. Fantastic job. You're a True Lady.
