No, he wasn't Pagan, but we felt his influence.
The Brothers Hildebrandt were the premiere fantasy artists of the 1970s and 1980s. At least of the PG rated ones. I still remember their illustrations for Tolkein and for The Sword of Shannara.
Not to mention that amazing Star Wars poster, which unfortunately I can't seem to link to.
