Putting it into practice

Spreading the memes around

Before I get into today's main entry, I'd thought I'd explain some of what I meant yesterday..

Right now I'm doing a iCal entry for "Synchronicity, Coincidence, Perception, And Perspective ." This is a blog item from January 28, 2007, and that is when the iCal entry is for. It's a non-reoccuring event.

No, I don't put every blog entry in my calendar, just the important ones. Which I haven't exactly finished yet, so this gives me an excuse to get some more in.

One of the things that this lets me do is search in my Palm, or just read the entries again. The entire post goes in the "notes" section of the entry. This is handy, but not as handy as the next bit.

Now I look through the blog item for good quotes. Sometimes there aren't any, sometimes there are several. The good quotes get their own iCal entries. For example, there is this line.

"The patterns we see in the universe may be nothing more than longing and human conceit. But if using those patterns give us a desired result, then the patterns are a useful fiction. The "ultimate reality" doesn't necessarily matter or even our belief doesn't matter, if we behave as if we believe and successfully reach our goals."

That's a decent line, so it becomes a reoccurring event every January 28. Every year it will pop up on that date and make me think about it again.

But that is not where we stop. Each quote also gets a note entry so it is in my Quote File, which is actually a Category in my Palm Memo application and my Mark/Space Notebook (Macintosh application that syncs with Palm Memo). That way it's where I can find it when I am away from my computer. I almost always have my Palm with me.

So let's look at how all this turned out, at least on the Mac side.

............. ............

One of these days I'll get columns to work in the bastardized version of HTML I can work with in the post entry boxes.

What's the point of all this?

I'm glad you asked. As I am moving all the data around, I'm thinking about the ideas behind what I wrote and why I want to remember it.

And I am using technology to manifest those ideas. First on my Macintosh of course, then on my Palm, and then on the web again as I write this entry.

Stringing all that orgone and packing all that effort and passion behind it means I will use it more.

And that means I'll use the magick more.
