Occasionally I wandered in where I was not wanted and gave truthful answers.
Sometimes I even did it deliberately. A little disruption now can prevent disaster later.

NeoNotes — Diversity

The anonymous writer gets a lot wrong, but she is right about the inclusiveness of paganism. Gun control, climate change, the military, heterosexual relationships, Black Lives Matter, the #MeToo movement, nuclear power, rape culture, white privilege, these are just some of the issues where diversity of opinion is strongly discouraged.

I'm not conservative, but if I don't frame an issue exactly right, I'm going to get flamed here. As good as I am (and I am very good at discussions), depending on the topic I may get flamed anyway. I'm not picking on progressives or pagans, I spend the bulk of my commenting time on two conservative boards where I regularly tell them why they are wrong on certain topics.

I suspect that I am tolerated here because I am usually polite, not because of the points I make. I've exchanged emails with some who do not feel comfortable making their opinions known here. Some of their opinions would shock you. Some of their ideas are good. Not all pagans are progressive. And not all conservatives are racist, misogynistic, or homophobic.

I believe that we need our ideas tested by those we trust. If you can't trust pagans because you don't approve of their politics, just who will you trust tomorrow? And the day after?

NeoNotes are the selected comments that I made on other boards, in email, or in response to articles where I could not respond directly.
