Occasionally I wandered in where I was not wanted and gave truthful answers.
Sometimes I even did it deliberately. A little disruption now can prevent disaster later.

NeoNote — Political hexing

As I said before, apparently the motivation for hexing Kavanaugh has moved from justice to attack.

This will have consequences, regardless of who did what where and when.

This is a common trope in fiction. I can't help but think about the The Dresden Files series mentioned the other day in the Charmed reboot thread.

In the Dresdenverse, the choices to break the in-universe "Laws of Magic" change the caster, even if the caster doesn't know the laws. So often by the time they are caught, black magic users are irredeemable. (Yes, I know that's a simplification, and yes, I know about the Blackstaff and the hypocrisy there that the author uses to make some story points). Now obviously that's fiction and it has limited application to reality.

But I can't help wondering. Where's the discipline, the mastery? A well trained martial artist doesn't go around breaking people's limbs because they offend him. Part of the discipline of the art is that by the time the practitioner can do that on a whim, he no longer needs to. Just because you can do something doesn't mean you should do it.

And on the (off) chance that Kavanaugh didn't do what he has been accused of, what are the consequences of loosing that kind of magick into the World? Unbound by justice, driven by secondhand revenge lust, and directed only by the vaguest notions that "men" are bad?

Aradia: or the Gospel of the Witches

It's not an anthropological work, but I'm pretty sure it's where this came from.

Gods, look at this mess. I can't even discuss the topic without taking one side or the other. Some accusers lie. Not all, and we should listen. But accusations should be substantiated before we take action.

Just for saying that, many readers here will dismiss whatever I say or write.

I like to stress the Story vs. the Journey. A revealed faith is just that, somebody else's story passed along. But the journey is what you live and no one can tell you how to take it. It's experience. Stories are important, but they are signposts.
